Rachel McKay Steele is a writer and comedian who left Brooklyn and bagels for sunny Los Angeles. She was a Just For Laugh’s Stand up and Pitch competition finalist. Her solo show, Shiva for Anne Frank, ran at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe festival. The Scotsman wrote: "There is so much potential for what Steele has created here to end badly, but the fact that it hits every mark throughout is a real tribute to the thoughtfulness and quality of the writing." She received a Jewish Writers’ Initiative Grant for her feature script, Adult Bat Mitzvah, which was then Athena Film Festival’s Athena List, the WScripted+ Cannes Screenplay list, and is in development with Burn Later Productions. Rachel’s (childhood) Bat Mitzvah did not have a theme because she did not think themes were elegant.
She has studied improv at The UCB Theater and WGIS and clown with The Pandemonium Studio and The Elysian. You can catch her around town performing with her all-lady improv team, Pyramid Scheme. She has not quit her day job as an Associate Creative Director.
